Nigerian Community Northern Ireland Condemns Violent Attack on Man at on Kinnaird Avenue, Belfast

The Nigerian community in Northern Ireland (NICONI) expresses deep concern and sadness following the violent incident reported on Kinnaird Avenue, Belfast on Monday, 8th of June 2026.

We strongly condemn this act of violence in its entirety. Violence of any form has no place in our society and undermines the safety, peace, and shared life we have all worked to build together.

As a responsible community, we reaffirm our long-standing commitment to living peacefully and cooperatively with people of all races, backgrounds, and nationalities across Northern Ireland.

We have consistently worked together with others in mutual respect and understanding, and we continue to stand for unity, harmony and peaceful integration in our shared society.

At this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his family. We extend our solidarity and support first to the family of the victim and to the community where this sad incident took place. We extend beacons of healing, hope, strength, and comfort during this painful period.

We also commend the PSNI for their swift intervention in the matter and the brave members of the public who intervened to rescue the victim.

We also call for full cooperation with the authorities as investigations continue. We trust that whoever is found responsible will be held accountable under the law and face due legal consequences through the proper justice system.

We encourage all members of the community to remain calm, be vigilant, avoid speculations and rely on verified information from official sources.

The Nigerian community in Northern Ireland remains committed to peace, safety, and positive integration within the wider society.
